Thanks to election day, and Montgomery County schools, I had a four day weekend at the beginning of November. Daddy was looking for something to do and turned to me and said "Go West....Young Lady"...I didn't really understand what he meant, but I do know that we decided to go to Colorado to visit our cousins in Lyons. I wasn't a huge fan of the long flight, but the trip was great. The weather was plenty warm (especially for November) and I had lots of fun playing with my cousins Marisha and Lianna. Enjoy the pics.
Daddy and I got up early Saturday morning and caught a flight out to Colorado. Thanks to the time change, we had plenty of time to play when I got there. I hadn't seen Marisha and Lianna for over 2 years, but they were super nice and we started playing immediately. They had plenty of things to do at their house, but I think my favorite was the trampoline.
I think that the change in altitude helps me jump even higher!
On Sunday, we all went to Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park. We drove up to the Bear Lake area. On our way up there, we saw a herd of elk along the road and stopped to observe them.
It was my first time in the mountains, and it was really cool. Fortunately we picked a fairly short hike, because it was tiring doing all that hiking, but it was lots of fun climbing all the rocks along the way.
Our first stop was Nymph Lake. I thought it was neat, how the temperature got lower while we hiked higher. Part of the lake was even frozen.
Daddy found this really cool tree stump right near the lake. It was huge and had lots of cool nooks and crannies where you could hide.
We weren't sure if we wanted to keep hiking after we got to Nymph Lake, but I decided that we should keep going, and that ended up being a GREAT idea! Another 1/4 mile down the trail, we found a huge rock to climb! It was lots of fun scrambling to the top, but the coolest part was the view once we reached the top!
After hanging out on the big rock for a little while (including climbing down and climbing back up a few times). We pushed on and finally made it up to Dream Lake.
The next day, I explored the land around my cousins' house. We had lots of fun hiking around and scrambling over rocks. We even found a bunch of bones, including a huge coyote skull. It was lots of fun!
I can't wait to go back to Colorado again. Hopefully we'll find some more snow next time I head out there. Thanks again to Marisha, Lianna, Gail, and Greg for their hospitality.
